Haley Lasché
Avert
a story told from one eye to the next
turns its content away
when eyes close against light color recedes
like so many trees in the forest
out of sight out of mind
there is no longer blue in jay
no longer an open sky to dream up into
good morning heartache
good morning end
you are here together without reflection
let the syntax spread its ugly wings
let the day be just what it is
